3 Beauty Books You Need to Read

I love books. My life has been changed by so many books. But I never thought a makeup book would change my life. However, one did. So I read more and they changed my life, too.

I know it might sound a little conceited to say it, but they are probably some of the best books I’ve ever read. Not because they offered inspiring words, but because they provided my with makeup skills. Skills that have boosted my confidence and self-esteem. So, yeah, they are life-changing, and they could be life-changing for you.

  1. Makeup Manual by Bobbi Brown

Bobbi Brown’s Makeup Manual was the first makeup book I ever read. It was given to me as birthday gift from a friend. When she handed it to me, I didn’t think it was the greatest present. In fact, I thought it was a bit of a rubbish thing to give someone, but I smiled and thanked her, like all good friends do.

Little did I realise that she had just handed me a piece of gold. Makeup lovers will have heard of Bobbi Brown – and will either want or have her products filling up their makeup bags and vanity cases. I am one of those people.

So, if you’re going to read a makeup book, ensure it is from one of the best professionals in the world. There are all sorts of beauty secrets on offer, such as how to care for your skin, how to select the perfect foundation for your skin type and the secret to perfect makeup.

I use this product every day – and if I don’t it’s because I know the book word for word. Honestly, this is a great book for those who want to improve their beauty regime.

  1. Your Beauty Mark by Dita Von Teese

Dita Von Teese is the epitome of glamour – so it seems only natural that she would have her own beauty book. The queen of burlesque has made a whole career from perfect makeup, with her signature red lipstick, beauty mark and perfect skin. Inside the book you will find advice on how to achieve perfect skin, as well as fragrance shopping tips and outlines to her exercise routine.

  1. Miles of MAC

Every girl is a MAC fan. Seriously, how could you not be? This isn’t so much a book on how to become beautiful, but a showcase of fashion and beauty. You will view shots from leaders in high-fashion makeup, which will inspire your inner fashionista.

You’ll see unique advertising campaigns from RuPaul, Lady Gaga and even Hello Kitty. You cannot help but draw inspiration from the prints, which have already influenced my wardrobe, colour choices and beauty choices over the years. Whenever I feel stuck for shades or looks, I simply open up this book and the ideas start rolling.
